Particular attention during the talks was given to the possibility of establishing direct air service between Samarkand and Philadelphia. Participants noted that such a route could provide greater convenience for Uzbeks living in the United States while also helping expand tourism, business, and investment ties between the two regions.
The parties also discussed an initiative to establish a sister-city relationship between Samarkand and Philadelphia. VATAN Global Alliance expressed its readiness to support direct dialogue and facilitate joint projects in this area.
Another topic was the possibility of displaying the national flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan along Benjamin Franklin Parkway, one of Philadelphia’s best-known boulevards. The initiative is viewed as an opportunity to strengthen Uzbekistan’s cultural presence in the United States and highlight the friendly relations between the two countries.
Special attention was also given to strengthening the connection between the younger generation of the Uzbek diaspora and their ancestral homeland. In particular, the participants discussed the possibility of organizing summer visits to Samarkand for children from Uzbek families living abroad.
Special educational and cultural programs could be developed for participants, giving them an opportunity to learn more about Samarkand’s history, the Uzbek language, national traditions, and Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage.
VATAN Global Alliance emphasized that maintaining strong ties between Uzbeks living abroad and Uzbekistan, as well as encouraging younger generations to stay connected to their cultural roots, remains among the organization’s key priorities. At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed their interest in continuing the dialogue and gradually moving forward with the initiatives discussed.
Representatives of VATAN Global Alliance thanked Samarkand Region Governor Adiz Boboev for the open and productive discussion, his attention to the proposed projects, and his support for initiatives aimed at strengthening engagement with the Uzbek diaspora abroad.
Going forward, VATAN Global Alliance plans to continue its work to strengthen economic, cultural, and community ties between Samarkand and Philadelphia, while also helping expand cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States.
